Meet the team – Jason Rider – Merchandiser

Jason is part of the Merchandising team who deliver and install our POS units into our retailers’ showrooms. They travel the length and breadth of the U.K to ensure our customers’ showrooms look great.

They’re a friendly bunch, so we took some time to talk to Jason about his time at Abingdon.

What is your role, and how long have you worked for Abingdon Flooring?

I’m a Merchandiser, and it’s coming up to 2 years.

What does a typical day entail?

At typical week consists of building up the units in the warehouse for delivery the next day – we can build anything from lecterns to flooring standing units

All the units need to be dressed correctly and branded in the right way before they are loaded onto our vans ready for delivery.

We also help the Marketing department with other projects, for example the team needed some shelves installing for our in-house sample wall, and whilst we were there, we decorated the offices too.

What are your recommendations to anyone looking to start a career in merchandising?

Just be yourself and value the team, you will enjoy the job if you enjoy the company.

What’s the best aspect of your job?

The people I work with, I enjoy the team and you get to see new places often – no two days are the same and it’s great to be able to have such a varied role.

Favourite Abingdon collection and why?

Charter Berber Deluxe – it’s really nice and luxurious and perfect to have in the home. It’s a gorgeous carpet overall.
