The UCY Charity Fundraiser

Abingdon’s Planning Manager, Steve Date, and his fellow cycling enthusiasts from UCY Cycling Club (Ystrad Mynach) are embarking on a fundraising mission for Hospice of the Valleys, their chosen Charity of the Year for 2023.

Hospice of the Valleys is dedicated to providing specialist palliative care to residents of Blaenau Gwent, offering vital support to patients and their families through challenging times by addressing their physical, emotional, and financial needs.

Steve and his cycling comrades are setting their sights on Mallorca for an adventurous warm-weather cycling challenge. However, this is no leisurely ride. They’ve set an ambitious goal: to cycle the total distance of the routes from Ystrad Mynach to Paris, Madrid, Rome, and back again—the finishing cities of the three grand tours of cycling, namely the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France, and Vuelta d’Espana, covering a staggering 8,134km.
