fam-friend-fi

From dirty footprints to chocolate covered hands, we know it can be a nightmare to try and get those stains out of a carpet.

So, when choosing the best family friendly carpet, you need something robust, durable and easy to clean. You need a flooring that offers peace of mind so you can enjoy your carpet with zero stress.

Considering a Family Friendly Carpet

There are 4 main considerations when looking for the perfect family friendly carpet:

  1. Bleach cleanable
  2. Hardwearing
  3. Easy to clean
  4. Long warranty cover

Which Styles and Colours Are Family Friendly?

For most families, the style, colour, and pattern of the carpet are the deciding factors.  It goes without saying that darker carpets will hide dirt better than the lighter options.

On the other hand, a lighter carpet will open up the space and bring light to the room. If you’d like to know more about light vs dark carpets, we recommend this blog.

However, carpet manufacturing is such that different colours can be used to create a number of patterns and Berber effects.

But what is a Berber style? This is a fleck detail within the carpet which helps disguise specks of dirt, setting you free from the daily hoover! To learn more about carpet types and terminology, head over to our blog on carpet jargon!

For example, our ‘Wild Silk’ range is a new, innovative carpet. It uses a ‘dirt defying’ fleck detail which disguises dust, as well as it being super-soft and bleach cleanable. It’s a perfect family friendly carpet.

Feel

In addition to the colour or the look of a carpet, the feel and softness could also be a big part of the consideration.

In carpet, the fibres play a big role in the feel and comfort levels. Different carpet fibres have different properties, and understanding the differences is important when choosing the best family friendly carpet for your home.

For example, the different piles. Loop piles are tighter and feel ‘firmer’ under foot with some bounce, designed to be long-lasting. Cut piles are much softer and are deeper, giving your carpet more of a cushioned, soft feel.

Here at Abingdon, we manufacture our carpets from the highest quality materials here is an overview of each material we use and their benefits.

Polyester

Our Love Story collection is a range of polyester carpets with the added benefit of being bleach cleanable. By using polyester these carpets are plush underfoot and give the feeling of walking on air.

They are extremely soft to the touch and silky smooth. All our polypropylene carpets are suitable for all areas of the home, meaning they can withstand the traffic of a family home.

They also come with a 10-year wear warranty and are bleach cleanable!

You heard it right, you can clean them with a bleach solution, making them perfect for those inevitable oops moments!

Polypropylene

Our Stainfree collection is one of the best carpets for a family home on the market.  It’s the original and best easy clean carpet available.

Polypropylene has strong stain resistance qualities and compared to a natural material carpet like wool it’s less prone to fading!

This family friendly carpet fibre has rapidly become a popular choice for flooring. Not only affordable, but long lasting, meaning it’s cost effective too. Definitely a carpet material suitable for busy households.

Our Stainfree Finesse and Caress are manufactured using Polypropylene, they share the same easy-clean qualities alongside the same colour palette.  The only difference is Caress is heavier in weight, adding additional luxury to your interior.

Wool

You might ask, is wool really a family friendly carpet material?

Wool is a naturally occurring fibre, making it an environmentally friendly choice for your carpet. It offers superb resilience to both wear and any general dirt. Wool is an amazing natural resource – it’s naturally elastic which gives it ‘bouncability’ for that extra comfort.

Wool carpets don’t crush due to their natural coil and is a great choice for areas with lots of foot traffic, like hallways and stairs. They are also environmentally friendly, naturally insulating and flame resistant.

We know that a family friendly carpet needs to be resistant to some tough dirt, and due to its natural make up, wool stands up to the test! When you spill liquid on wool, it sits on top of the wool fibres for a while, allowing you to clean it away. As long as you take care of cleaning your carpet, stains will be minimal!
